Krāsu dalījums – zils/balts – izvēlēts pamatojoties uz zilo krāsu ģerbonī, simbolizē Daugavu, debesis, tonis mērķtiecīgi izvēlēts gaišāks nekā ģerbonī, lai nenomāktu vai nesaplūstu ar novada ģerboni karoga vidū. Karoga fona dalījuma otra krāsa ir balta - svinīga, prezentatīva. […] Horizontālais fonu toņu dalījums izvēlēts, lai novada karogu izceltu starp novada divu pagastu un Baložu pilsētas karogiem.[2]
