Summary[edit]

An image of the English-language memorial in Birkenau camp, taken in July 2006 at the Nazi concentration camp in Oświęcim.

The text reads "For ever let this place be a cry of despair and a warning to humanity, where the Nazis murdered about one and a half million men, women, and children, mainly Jews from various countries of Europe. Auschwitz-Birkenau 1940 - 1945"

While a copy of the image can, of course, be uploaded to Commons at any time, please do not delete the locally held image from the English Wikipedia.
