Object history
Deutsch: Die Gemeinde wurde 1343 als „oppidum" bezeichnet. Dies deutet auf damalige Bestrebungen hin, sie zur ummauerten Stadt auszubauen. Im Wappen soll die einer Stadtmauer ähnelnde erhöhte Teilung im Zinnenschnitt an diese unvollendet gebliebene Entwicklung erinnern. Die Lilie wird als Hinweis auf die Herrschaft Albeck verstanden, zu der Nerenstetten gehörte. Die Reichsstadt Ulm erwarb diese Herrschaft 1383 von den Grafen von Werdenberg, deren roter Schildgrund den unteren Teil des Gemeindewappen bestimmt. Golden war der Schildgrund des vorreformatorischen Wappens des Klosters Herbrechtingen, dessen Besitz in Nerenstetten 1607 an Ulm kam. Das Wappen wurde am 21. Februar 1955 von der Landesregierung, die Flagge am 25. Juli 1984 vom Landratsamt Alb-Donau-Kreis verliehen.
