Summary

Description
English: The white lily refers to the Immaculate Virgin Mary, our mother, and to the Most Chaste Heart of Saint Joseph, our patron.

The heaven-pointed arrow indicates the direction to which every Christian should aim: the Glory of God and the Salvation of Souls.

The ash tree is a reference to the founder of the SHMI, since the “ash tree” in Italian translates as, “Frassino”, which sounds like “Frassinetti”.

The blue Horizon: the Horizon line, connecting the sea, and the blue sky, refers to the coastal city of Genoa, cradle of our congregation.

The yellow star refers to our Patroness, the Virgin Mary, under the title of “Star of the Sea”.

The golden Crown signifies the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

“MONSTRA TE ESSE MATREM”; ITE PARA TUTUM”: this two lines, taken from the Marian hymn, “Ave Maria Stella”, translate as: “Show Yourself to be a Mother” and “Prepare a Safe Way”.
