Summary

Description The Thames Club, at 290 State Street at Washington Street in New London, Connecticut, was founded in 1869, making it the oldest social club in Connecticut and the third oldest in New England. They purchased their first permanent clubhouse, a private residence at this same location, in 1888. This burned down in 1904, and the current building was completed in 1905 to replace it. It was designed by Ewing and Chappell. The building is located in the Downtown New London Historic District. (Sources: [1], [2] and [3])
