English: View of the Volcano of Ki-rau-e-a, in Hawaii. Woodcut from the Rev. Ephraim Eveleth’s History of the Sandwich Islands, published in 1829; not all editions of the books had these plates. According to David W. Forbes, this woodcut engraving is based on an earlier sketch by William Ellis, published in the 1825 A Journal of a Tour Around Hawaii: The Largest of the Sandwich Islands and in the 1826 . This sketch most resemble the 1826 version. |
