Notes

Dorotheum auction of 23.10.2018 lot 49 The present work is a variant of a painting in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Valenciennes, which has been published by Hella Robels in her monograph on Frans Snyders as by Paul de Vos.

Fred Meijer attributes the figures to Willem van Herp and he further states that it cannot be totally excluded that the still life is also from the artist’s hand (written communication, 2005).
