Gadaffi's Tribe[edit]

I thought Gafaffi was part of a tribe whose name he probably takes his name from. Why isn't it indicated here? Is it a small tribe? TheArchaeologist 07:21, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

note that the actual image talkpage is at commons:File talk:Libya ethnic.svg. The article about Gaddafi's tribe is at Qaddadfa. Yes, it is a minor tribe. But the tribes labelled here are more or less chosen randomly by a CIA draughtsman in 1974, they aren't necessarily major tribes. Ya, at wikimedia where few people will actually find it unless they know where to look. =p This is simpler imo, and it's a talk page anyway. So this is just what some random little pencil pusher selected in '74? That is just strange. A lot of Wikipedia's maps are based on CIA maps because they are in the public domain in the US. People only sit down and draw more detailed maps if there is an immediate cause to do so, as is the case with Libya at the moment. The vectorized map is a good starting point for that, it will be very easy for anyone willing to work on it to improve this map based on more recent data. --dab (𒁳) 09:35, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Touareg" spelling error[edit]

There is a spelling error in the map legend. "Touareg" is a Volkswagen utility vehicle. "Tuareg" is the more common English language spelling for the ethnic group that the map refers to.
