A musical theater work, Stuck Elevator, is based on the true story of a Chinese deliveryman, Ming Kuang Chen, in the Bronx who was trapped in an elevator for 81 hours.[2] The work, which combines musical elements from opera, multimedia, and hip-hop, addresses the conflicting results of calling for help—freedom or negative consequences for an undocumented immigrant. Stuck Elevator premiered at American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, April 4-28.[3]
