Parent category[edit]

@Christian75: please stop removing this category from its parent Category:WikiProject Gibraltar articles, which you have now done twice: [1], [2].

Category:WikiProject Gibraltar articles is part of the wider series Category:Articles by WikiProject, which is misnamed: early all such categories contain non-article pages. So e.g. Category:Gibraltar articles by quality contains Category:NA-Class Gibraltar articles, which has categories and templates. Other project have specific categories for templates (see Category:Template-Class articles + subcats) and categories (see Category:Category-Class articles + subcats) and files (see Category:File-Class articles + subcats).

Yes, those categories are misnamed ... but renaming them all would be a huge job. Meanwhile, Category:WikiProject Gibraltar articles contains lots of non-article pages as subcats of Category:Gibraltar articles by quality and Category:Gibraltar articles by importance: see https://petscan.wmflabs.org/?psid=19508006, which currently finds 990 such pages.

You can also verify that Category:All WikiProject Gibraltar pages contains only articles that are also in Category:Gibraltar articles by quality and Category:Gibraltar articles by importance: see https://petscan.wmflabs.org/?psid=19507955.

Not all WPs use it that way. E.g. see {{WikiProject Video games}} which only contains articles. You agree the categories are misnamed, so why continue to misname the new categories. And MAIN_CAT is optional so a good idea to ask the WP first. I saw you edit because you changed {{WikiProject Gibraltar}} and will just leave it as it is. I have no particular interest in this WP.
