Is this a nationality category or a country category

@Thinker78:, could you clarify if this is a category based on where the politician was assassinated or their nationality? The category descriptions are a tad unclear. Based on the text of the parent category (Category:Assassinated politicians in Asia), "assassinated politicians from Asia" suggests that these are politicians from Asian nations. But the name suggests that they were assassinated somewhere in Asia. Mason (talk) 20:32, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

In short, it is intended for politicians in office (incumbent or formerly) in countries in Asia that were assassinated, regardless if they were actually assassinated in Asia or in other continents. Same with the other continents' categories.

There is a complicated history with that naming, "in Asia" vs Asian. There were a couple of discussions about it (not specifically about Asia). The location as opposed to the demonym was the result. Thanks! That's *really* helpful. I'll take a look at the discussions, and think about how to make that intent clearer, as I'm not sure if that's being effectively conveyed when intersected with decade, as there's a lot to untangle in the name. I wonder if reversing "assassinated politicians" to "politicians assassinated" in FOO, would help. So 1980s politicians assassinated in Asia? Hmmm, ok that makes it sound much more the location of their death. Anyway, I'll think about this... maybe something clever will come to one of us. Mason (talk) 00:54, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
