The 2023 Higashi-Meihan EXPWY car crash (東名阪道多重事故)was a traffic crash that occurred on March 27, 2023, in Henpoji-cho, Kameyama City, Mie Prefecture, resulting in 3 deaths and 5 injuries.[1][2].
The communication command staff of the Kameyama City Fire Department failed to ensure the safety of the caller, and the driver who made the 119 call was struck and killed by a following car approximately eight minutes after the call was made. Mie Prefecture and the Fire and Disaster Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications were forced to respond to this problem[3]
