Bhakolwa is generally a term used in Indian mythologies to refer the ghost that is similar to the ghosts that are being mentioned as "Bogeyman" in many other mythologies around the world. Whereas these are also being referred with some of other different names across various Indian regions as Shaitan, Bhoot, Jin Baba, Petona, Kaatu, Goggayya, haboo, Rettai Kannan, Boochodu, Kokkachi, Oochandi, Gongo, Bāgul Buā, Baaya. Bhakolwa are the ghosts like angles that frighten children for misbehaving in good manner to teach a lesson and sometimes help those who are in trouble by drawing the lines between the truth and the lies so that the ones who are in trouble could be relief from the stress of sorrows and pain.
