Dairy Asia is a multi-stakeholder partnership with a vision to build a sustainable dairy sector in Asia and the Pacific. The partnership is voluntary and its functions are based on the principles of consensus and mutual respect. Dairy Asia's membership has reached 13 countries, namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.

In 2020, the Dairy Asia secretariat office was established in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, supported by the Government of Mongolia and FAO.

In 2022, Dairy Asia was legally and officially registered in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia as an Intergovernmental Organization.

As a knowledge partner, Dairy Asia collaboratively cooperates with FAO, GASL (Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock), APHCA (Animal Production and Health Commission of Asia and Pacific), DSF (Dairy Sustainability Framework), IDF (International Dairy Federation), ILRI (International Livestock Research Institution) and IFCN Dairy Network.

Dairy Asia has the following initiatives: Asian Milk Week promotes World Milk Day; Low-Volume - High-Value strategy for the non-cow milk production sector (camel, goat, sheep, yak, mare milk...); Strengthening the cooperation and partnership of yak husbandry countries through establishing the World Yak Association in Mongolia; Protecting the Bactrian camels through establishing the World Bactrian Camel Association in Mongolia; Dairy Asia: Milk Talk; Dairy Asia: Milk Walk; Dairy Asia promotes bilateral cooperation of member countries; World Milk Map by preferred dairy products in all countries.
