John E. Turrentine[edit]

John E. Turrentine (born April 2, 1952) in Atlanta, Georgia is a medical doctor, ordained minister, PhD of American History, and MBA.[1][2] He is known for coining the term Minimally Invasive Vaginal Hysterectomy (MIVH).[3][4] He invented MIVH and taught the procedure for Johnson & Johnson Endosurgery.[4] He first taught the procedure in Cincinnati at Johnson & Johnson and then throughout the United States. Turrentine helped develop the stapling device used to perform the procedure.[4] The procedure allows the hysterectomy to be performed in less time and less recovery time than any other form of hysterectomy.[4] Turrentine first published MIVH in several of his books "Clinical Protocols in Obstetrics and Gynecology 2nd Edition" with illustrations on how to perform the procedure in 2003 after several thousand successful procedures then described the operation further in his book, "Surgical Transcriptions and Pearls in Obstetrics and Gynecology 2nd Edition," and with further illustrations in his book "Clinical Protocols in Obstetrics and Gynecology 3rd Edition."[5][6][7][8]

Afterwards he obtained his Doctorate of Ministry at Trinity Seminary/University of Liverpool in 2004.[1][2] He was ordained by Faith Christian Fellowship Church, Inc. (Oklahoma City, Ok). He set up many jungle mission trips for Operation Touch and was a guest minister at many churches throughout Carolinas and Georgia.[1]

He received a PhD in American Revolutionary History from Trinity College in 2015.[1][2] He received multiple recognitions during his studies, including Phi Alpha Theta Historical Honor Society, Twice Meritorious Service Medal from the SAR, Silver Roger Sherman Medal from the SAR. It was during this time that he published “Defining the Founding Fathers/Spirituality Examined.”[1][9]
