  • Comment: Is this titled Mercuri Urval International because Mercuri Urval is salted, or because that's really the company's name? And if the latter, then why does this draft talk about Mercuri Urval only? DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:08, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

Mercuri Urval (MU) is a global consulting firm that provides executive search, recruitment, talent management, and organizational consulting services to clients in a variety of industries. It was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1967.

History[edit]

Mercuri Urval (MU) was founded in 1967 in Stockholm, Sweden. Mercuri Urval’s core business was in selection in recruitment and internal appointments. MU Experts advised clients on employment, promotion, and development decisions by using a prediction-based assessment method.  In the 1970s, Mercuri Urval began to focus on providing broader executive search and talent management services outside of Sweden and established offices in the UK, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Norway and the Netherlands.

In the 1980s and 1990s, the company expanded internationally by opening more offices in Europe, the US and Asia.

Since 2016, the company has been owned by Stiftelsen Mercuri Urval – in a Foundation Ownership structure. Since the same year, Partnerships can be awarded to employees.[1]

In March 2020, Richard Moore was appointed CEO at Mercuri Urval.[2]

In May 2022, Mercuri Urval went through a re-branding and is since primarily known to clients and the external market as MU.

In 2022, MU founded the MU Research Institute[3] to reassure and develop the basis for science-based Executive Search and Leadership Advisory Services.

In June 2023, MU acquired the German executive search firm Delta Management Consultants GmbH[4], a top 50 Executive Search firm in Europe.[5]

Advisory Approach[edit]

In the early 1960s, the cofounder of MU developed aptitude diagnostic procedures[6]. With the help of the method, performance in a professional context (job) can be reliably predicted and developed.[7] Consultants at MU work with a unique, science-based method, known as “MU Leader Selection Science™.”[8]

MU is certified according to the ISO 10667-2 standard for the global standard for assessment quality.[9][10]

External Recognitions[edit]

In June 2022, MU received the "Sweden's Best Managed Companies" recognition, sponsored by Deloitte in cooperation with Nasdaq.[11] [12] The recognition was awarded to MU again in 2023.[13]

In 2022, 2023, and 2024, MU was included in the Top 40 Global Recruiting ranking for Executive Search companies, according to Hunt Scanlon Media.[14]

In June 2023, MU received the acknowledgement of being named one of Germany's top recruitment firms by Handelsblatt.[15]

In November 2023, MU was named the best-known Executive Search firm in Finland by FEX Suorahakuyritykset Ry[16] (Association of Executive Search Companies in Finland).

In March 2024, MU receives the acknowledgement of being one of America's Best Recruiters.[17]
