The Supreme Soviet of the Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (Finnish: Karjalan ASNT Korkein Neuvosto; Russian: Верховный Совет Каре́льской Автономной ССР, romanizedVerkhovnyy Sovet Karel'skoy Avtomnoy SSR) was the highest governing body of the Karelian ASSR within the Russian SFSR. It existed from 1938 to 1940 and again from 1956 to 1994, with an interim period during which it existed as the Supreme Soviet of the Karelo-Finnish SSR. In 1993, the Karelian Republic adopted a new constitution, which replaced the Supreme Soviet with the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia.
