Alternate members?[edit]

The article does not explain what makes alternate members special? Do they have less voting rights? Do they attend meetings less frequently? Do they have to share rights with other alternate members? Do they serve shorter terms? That goes for Central Committee of the Communist Party of China as well. Evilbu (talk) 09:42, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This has been explained on both articles after recent edits. Basically, alternate members can't vote. Also ordinarily full members are officials of provincial-ministerial ranking, and alternate members are a mix between provincial-ministerial and sub-provincial and vice-minister level rankings. Suggested Changes[edit]

User:Colipon, User:Trust Is All You Need, a couple of suggested changes:

1. As a native English speaker, it seems awkward to me to refer to the "apparatus" of the CC. I strongly suggest changing the third section heading to "Structure", which will sound more idiomatic to 99% of people reading the article.

2. The I-C (Inner Composition) abbreviation also sounds awkward and unintuitive to me, as does the "Inner Groups" list in the infobox. Are these common term in socialist political science? Maybe something like "High-Level" or "High-Ranking"?--Danaman5 (talk) 02:56, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

While I am not opposed to "structure", the various internal organs of the party do indeed compose the "party apparatus", which is a term used by all sorts of academics and historians studying Communist countries such as the Soviet Union and China. So this is in fact an English-language term. I agree that "I-C" is a strange abbreviation. Perhaps we can just use "central institution membership" or "member of" in the column heading. "Central institution membership" is what we use in the infoboxes of leaders. Colipon+(Talk) 16:56, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Linking of cities[edit]

Hello @Trust Is All You Need:, you mentioned in your reversion of the city links edit summary that we need to be consistent. This is fine - I accepted this premise and you will note that I only linked cities below the provincial-level. The links are to serve the interests of our readers - many of these cities are not well known, even by people native to China, so the links are necessary. Elected[edit]

  • @119.224.13.116: It is right the term, especially when looking at the new system; more candidates than seats (there are more candidates nominated for seats than actual seats). For alternate membership election is the correct term, but when discussing the ordinary members approved is just as right.. The problem is that official announcements says the delegate elects the CC, and they indeed do, but there is an identical number of seats and candidates for member elections (making the whole election ceremonial)... In other words its not entirely incorrect, and not entirely correct—but the best term to explain the situation. --TIAYN (talk) 07:51, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Birth year[edit]
