This statement is incorrect, Milan historically use their white strip in finals of the European Cup/Champions League. I'm editing it.

The 39th European Champion Club's Cup Final[edit]

I moved this page and the 1993-one to the official name. In fact, only from 1994/95 edition the name "UEFA Champions League" indicates the entire competion; from 1992 to 1994 "UCL" was the name of the group stage only (including 1994 one-leg semifinals). From 1995 Final, the usual UCL's song, the decorations in the stadium, the official name of "UCL Final" appeared. European Cup Final?[edit]

The edit war (see history) only made the article worse. The title is currently at odds with the poster image ("39th Final European Champion Clubs' Cup).

The information in the article is poor and doesn't explain the disparity.

Can we get an explanation of this in the article? Is it true the CL branding applied only to the group stage, not the final at this time? Did UEFA change the final's name retroactively?

I think at the time the name "Champions League" only applied to the earlier stages of the competition, but UEFA has retroactively changed things so that all stages of the competition from 1992-93 to present are part of the UEFA Champions League. – Pee Jay 08:36, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In this article published on "El Mundo Deportivo" [2] it's written that 1994 match AC Milan vs Fc Barcelona was the last European Cup Final. I rewrite a piece of the article: "Atenas encumbrará hoy al campeón, al último campeón de la Copa de Europa. A partir del año próximo la máxima competición se denominará Champions League hasta el final". Therefore the denomination "Champions League", in 1993–94 season, refers only to the group stage and semi-finals. Another article [3], which confirms what I wrote earlier, states that from 1994–95 season Champions League will replace the European Cup (original text, in Spanish: "La Champions League sustituirá a la ya desaparecida Copa de Europa"). Similar concepts are written here [4] ("Desde el ánimo hasta el pronóstico general, un peligroso enemigo, que apunta el Camp Nou como destino último de esta Copa de Europa, precisamentela última que se disputará bajo esta denominación para darentrada a la definitiva Champions League del futuro") and here [5] ("La denominación de la próxima campaña será 'Champions League' de principio a fin").
Those who manage UEFA.com were wrong to count the 1993 and 1994 finals as Champions League matches. This explains the mystery. --Stephan Sensuality (talk) 11:50, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

They're not wrong to present it that way. It's their competition, they can call it what they want, it's just they've decided to retroactively change the way those seasons of the competition are referred to. – Pee Jay 12:56, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
