Title

I have a doubt about the title. Is it "Three Idiots" or "3 Idiots"? According to IMDB it's '3 Idiots', so I think it should be changed to "3 Idiots". Managerarc (talk) 16:48, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

I second that. Title should be changed. Universal Hero (talk) 20:32, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

I was about to move this to 3 idiots before I saw this discussion. I think the 'I' should be lower case, as it is on the poster. Anyone opposed to this page move?--Zvn (talk) 05:51, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
It should be 3 Idiots, as per title rules. All parts are capitalized apart from inconclusive words - "and" etc. Universal Hero (talk) 11:09, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Ok then, just saw Wikipedia:Naming conventions (films). The target page already exists though; an admin is needed to move this page. --Zvn (talk) 11:35, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

"who is a science"? I haven't seen the movie but that's a typo right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.194.225.10 (talk) 07:36, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Spoiler Warnings

Since this movie is a fairly recent release, it is only appropriate to include spoiler warnings when the Summary and Cast include genuine spoilers. Please do not delete the spoiler warnings. Georgiebest7 (talk) 20:12, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

The Wikipedia no longer has spoiler warnings. See WP:FILMPLOT for the construction of film plots which states: "The plot summary is an overview of the film's main events, so avoid minutiae like dialogue, scene-by-scene breakdowns, and technical detail. Per Wikipedia's content disclaimer and guideline on spoilers, all of the film's important events should be outlined without censoring details considered spoilers and without using disclaimers or warnings in the article. In short, Wikipedia contains spoilers; please respect this policy." However, WP:FILMCAST has a different set of rules for the cast section. -Classicfilms (talk) 15:23, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Well you can't give away the plot like that! It's unfair for the people who haven't watched the film, and a good plot summary is never a complete low-down on the events. Stuff needs to be removed from the summary. 59.160.104.20 (talk) 15:14, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
I agree with you with regard to the Cast section. Nothing in WP:FILMCAST states that spoilers are allowed. With regard for plot, we have to follow the rules voted on by the community as stated in WP:FILMPLOT. What we have for this article could be better written, however, and we need to keep in mind this point from WP:FILMCAST: "The plot summary is an overview of the film's main events, so avoid minutiae like dialogue, scene-by-scene breakdowns, and technical detail." -Classicfilms (talk) 17:19, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Clean up tag

There are multiple problems with the review section. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Style guidelines and Wikipedia:External links. -Classicfilms (talk) 16:43, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Note here:
that all film reviews should adhere to: Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Please also note that according to Wikipedia:External links, the Wikipedia does not list every external link on the topic. This section is still in need of clean up. -Classicfilms (talk) 15:21, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
I cleaned up this section. Please review MOS:FILM before adding reviews. -Classicfilms (talk) 17:29, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Millimeter cast missing

In the cast information given in the page, the name of the actor who played ManMohan (Millimeter) is missing, through he played an important role in the movie. I think his name can be added. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.123.253.68 (talk) 18:53, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Edit request from Rakeshpro, 12 April 2010

{{editsemiprotected}}

The plot submitted for the movie 3 idiots is not accurate and needs correction. I would want to ensure that information is crisp & accurate. Rakeshpro (talk) 10:43, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

no Invalid. Edit requests should be more specific as to what should be changed, and these changes should be understandable for people not directly involved in editing the page. Your request doesn't detail what is wrong and how it should be changed, and therefor it is not actionable as a request. Feel free to write a more clear request and re-add the template though :). Edit request from Junk000trash, 19 April 2010

{{editsemiprotected}} I would like to add information that the movie was not actually released on Youtube as expected. The sentence in contention is: It is expected to be the first Indian film to be officially released on YouTube, within 12 weeks of releasing in theatres on March 25, 2010.

Junk000trash (talk) 01:30, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Please present reliable source to verify.  fetchcomms 02:08, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
The editor does present a reasonable request. More than 12 weeks have passed since the movie has been released and there is no official movie on Youtube (I did do a basic search on the official channel. Having said that, I cannot find any reliable sources to claim that the video has not been launched). --JovianEye (talk) 03:22, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Suicide

The movie mentions that India has the highest rate of (student) suicides in the world. Is that a fact? It would be worth noting in the article that the movie addressed this issue. 94.226.137.139 (talk) 18:26, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Remake in other languages?

I've redirected 3 idiots (note lower-case i) here; the article had been about a remake of this film in other languages. If there's any notable information about these remakes, they should go into this main article until such a remake is made that deserves its own article. Strange Passerby (talk) 03:57, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Lifetime gross

3 idiots grossed Rs. 339 crore worldwide in its lifetime not Rs. 470 crore as claimed in this article. Please change.

Delay in US DVD Release

I would love to see some information here about the long delay in US DVD release, but I've been unable to find anything about this in my cursory web searches (I am not willing to read through thousands of pages of Bollywood fan stuff to find out). It's peculiar -- far easier to get an illegal copy on a bittorent than to buy a legitimate version. It would be appropriate for this article if someone has info.--Russell (talk) 02:08, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

What the heck is the "exercise-bicycle-cum-washing-machine"?

In the last paragraph of the opening description: [...] Remya Jose, a student from Kerala, who created the exercise-bicycle-cum-washing-machine [...]

The cited article refers it as pedal-driven washing machine. Why should we change it into exercise-bicycle-cum-washing-machine? Would anyone change this? 62.194.135.139 (talk) 23:06, 19 December 2010 (UTC) ok

the second highest grossing Indian film ever - Please update

In 3 idiots article, third paragraph first line, it is mentioned as "the highest grossing Indian film ever". In List of highest grossing Indian films article, Enthiran movie is listed in top with the highest collections till now and running successfully.

So, Please Update the the highest grossing Indian film ever to the second highest grossing Indian film ever in 3 idiots article in the third paragraph first line and also if possible please provide a link to the List of highest grossing Indian films article so that viewers can visit that page also to know about that list of highest grossing indian films.

"net" ticket sales

The article refers several times to "net" revenue from ticket sales. In American English, "net" is what's left from the gross after expenses are paid. If that's not meant here, the word "net" ought to be removed; if the word "net" is accurate, perhaps the wording could be altered to avoid ambiguity. —Tamfang (talk) 06:42, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Yes, it does mean something different in India. I think net is gross, but without some tax or other. Someone please correct me if that's wrong. It can't be explained for every Indian cinema article, but I wish someone would create a small article that we could link too. BollyJeff | talk 13:46, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Error in plot description

Some events in the movie have been put in wrong order:

However, ViruS is unsympathetic and vows to make the final exam as hard as possible so that Raju is unable to graduate. Pia hears him and angrily confronts him, and when ViruS gives the same ruthless reply he gives to his students, she denounces him in the same way that Rancho did over the suicide of Lobo. Pia reveals that Viru's son and her brother was not killed in an accident but committed suicide in front of a train and left a letter because ViruS had forced him to pursue a career in engineering over his love for literature; ViruS always mentioned that he unsympathetically failed his son on the ICE entrance exams over and over to every new intake of ICE students. After this, Pia walks out on the family home, and takes ViruS's spare keys with her. She tells Rancho of the exam, and he and Farhan break into ViruS's office and steals the exam and give it to Raju, who with his new-found attitude, is unconcerned with the prospect of failing, and refuses to cheat and throws the paper away. However, ViruS catches the trio and expels them on the spot.

Pia's confrontation and revelation that her bro commited suicide happens AFTER the following events: Pia gives ViruS' keys to Rancho after ViruS tells "All's fair in Love and War, and this is WWIII!", then Farhan and Rancho copy the papers and eventually the trio are caught by ViruS and expelled. After the expellation and before Pia's elder sister goes into labor does the event of Pia admitting to giving Rancho the keys and revealing this info and then leaving take place.

It's locked so I couldn't edit it but please correct this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.93.210.87 (talk) 16:39, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Another error

The article claims that Chatur is "known as 'Silencer' due to his abilities in rote learning and procrastination." However, this is incorrect. He is known as "Silencer" because of his powerful but silent farts, which are caused by pills he takes to help him study. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.147.148.4 (talk) 00:36, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
