Notice on Close Paraphrasing[edit]

It is true that the mentioned section of this article is close resemblance with the cited link. But it is difficult to distinguish profile informations like personal, educational, official data from one source to another. I am afraid that it will become stupid to change ones university, course and career in the name of copyright violation. Plz tell me if any policy regarding this aspect particularly in connection with profile informations of persons and establishments. --Adv.tksujith (talk) 02:52, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing provides some good suggestions on how to avoid these issues. One of the best is not to rely upon a single source for your information. Beyond that, English is a very word-rich language, so it is generally not that difficult to find new ways to convey the same information. For instance, a description of his educational career might begin:

Gopalakrishnan's education began in India, where he attended the University of Kerala and Bhabha Atomic Energy Centre, before taking him to the United States to the University of California, Berkekely, where he obtained his Phd in 1969.

A PhD is what is called a terminal degree, so it is not necessary to mention the MS. The MS is subordinate to the PhD.) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:36, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
