Untitled[edit]

The link says he's from the "Ibn Iraq" tribe, I didn't realize that ibn Iraq was a Persian tribe! Reverted obvious falsification, please keep Wikipedia as accurate as possible. MB 17:47, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That doesn't mean he was arab. In old geography there is two Iraqs: Iraq - Ajam and Iraq- Arab. Araq - Ajam consisted of most of the land of modern Iran (Hamadan, Tehran, Kashan, Qazvin, Shomal..). For example there is city in Iran by the name Arak. Furthermore the link says: Abu Nasr Mansur was a native of Gilan which is mentioned in The Regions of the World, a Persian geography book of 982. Considering this fact, he is Iranian and not Arab.

Yes, but his name is spelt Iraq...[edit]

by your definition that means, he's from Arab-Iraq, right? Also, please sign your comments. MB 20:53, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You didn't get my argument. In Islamic times, there was two "Iraqs". Araq Ajam and Araq Arab. Araq-Ajam means most of Persian and Araq Arab means of Iraq. Since this person was born in Gilan, he was from Araq Ajam. For example in old arabic and Persian literature we hear the term Banu-Sassan, Banu-Kayan, Banu-Abbas, and Bani-Adam and etc. This person was born in Gilan, and so he is by default Iranian unless you have proof of Arab lineage, which you do not have. Also anyone born in Iraq (the Arab one) does not become Arab either by definition, since there was a large number of different groups including Iranians. But that is irrelevant. Again this person was born in Gilan, which is a remote region in Iran and so he was Iranian unless you have evidence to counter that he wasn't born there. --Ali doostzadeh 02:36, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Iraqi?[edit]

there was no iraq back then, how could he be iraqi? lets try and settle this instead of taking an easy way out of it. we are here to provide factual information for people who have the interest, not to take the easy way out. come on, we can settle this someone, we dont have to take the easty way out.Iranian Patriot 22:27, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
