Original alternative instrumentations[edit]

Though easily played on the viola, I gather, the original 1849 Kistner publication didn't (I gather?) list viola among alternates, just horn, cello and violin: "Adagio u. Allegro für Pianoforte u. Horn (ad libitum Violoncell oder Violine) Op. 70" (OCLC 1074911487, also see HMB 1849.)
