Mean Streets[edit]

"the streets are mean and narrow " - could someone explain to me what a mean street is? BSkliarWard 14:44, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

mean and narrow means EB 1911. Changed.Dave (talk) 11:23, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Location Image[edit]

The location image needs replacing, it's incomplete and is wrong in the first place. 222.164.88.249 (talk) 09:31, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shipping Tonnage[edit]

There is something wrong with this sentence: "The port is accessible by the largest ships, but its accommodation is indifferent. In 1904 there entered 603 vessels with a tonnage of 202,980, and cleared 608 vessels with a tonnage of 202,502."

I feel it is probably the date, 1904. If this date really is correct (as it may be have been taken from Encyclopedia Britannica 1911) then the facts of tonnage are horribly outdated. However, the same sentence does include the phrase "accessible by the largest ships" which makes the 1904 date seem unrealistic.

This just feels like a typo, which perhaps only the original author can rectify.

Thanks. EB 1911. Will be replaced.Dave (talk) 11:22, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was not a typo - it came from the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica. Paragraph deleted as obsolete.

Pronunciation[edit]

In French, "Ajaccio" is pronounced [aʒaksjo]. Is [ajatʃo] (as currently stated in the article, dating back to an anonymous edit in Feb. 2006) the established English pronunciation? CapnPrep (talk) 19:20, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ajaccio - there is a mistake in the article[edit]

The chart with basic information about Ajaccio shows that it's population is over 650 thousands, when on the whole island (Corsica) lives little over 300 thousands. I guess that the true number of inhabitants of Ajaccio should be 65,883 (not 658,883) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.77.23.217 (talk) 17:41, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
