Title[edit]

The title of this work/article should be "Allegory of Divine Providence," "Triumph of Divine Providence," or "Glorification of Urban VIII's Reign," the latter used by Rudolf Wittkower. As a specialist in this period, I prefer the first option, but I'm willing to debate the subject. I have NEVER heard the work called "Allegory of Divine Providence and Barberini Power." As the starter of the article, I take all blame. Feel free to make the changes you call for. As for ridiculousness, I do not recall where I obtained the title; if I recall it was from Wittkower himself, and this may prove embarassing to you. In the names of paintings, I would never say never as to whether a name has been used. I will try to retrieve the origin of my title for you, so that you will have then to admit that it was published before, and while long, I think it balances both concepts of being a Barberini glorification, and an allegory of divine providence. If you wish, why don't you change the article to its new title, as long as you continue to redirect from this one and all other permutations of titles you can come up with. Ta-ta for now. I take it back, Wittkower did not use this term. It is, however, the title presently used by Encyclopedia Britannica to refer to the fresco, and in a 1971 article by Everett Fahy (formerly director of the Frick Collection, who has moved to be chairman of the department of European paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art) in A History of the Portrait and Its Painter in the The Metropolitan Museum of Art Bulletin [1]. My recommendation would be to leave the title as is, and make redirects from the titles you mentioned.
