Operation Coastal Clearing?[edit]

"It was depopulated during the 1948 Palestine War on April 10, 1948 under what is believed to be Operation Coastal Clearing". What is "Operation Coastal Clearing" and why "is believed to be"? Netanel h (talk) 10:02, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don´t know (I didn´t add it!) However, as you can see in this list here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Israeli_operations_in_the_1948_war ...not all "operations" have their article, yet. Anyway, I have removed it, and everything in the article should now be properly sourced. Cheers, Huldra (talk) 12:05, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wadi al-Mafjar[edit]

Is it Hadera Stream? Netanel h (talk) 10:05, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like it. I´ll make a redir. Cheers, Huldra (talk) 11:34, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

'Arab al-Shaykh Muhammad al-Hilu[edit]

The above name is given as an alternative name in Khalidi, 1992, p.144.

To me this indicate the "Sheikh Helu" place in SWP map 7; see Conder and Kitchener, 1882, SWP II, p. 4: "A few mud hovels near the Mukam. It is not noticed in the official list."

If we compare the SWP map 7, with this 1932 map, it looks as if Hadera had expanded onto the Mukam site by that time; the area marked "El Fuqara" is just to the west.

Should we include the SWP info? Comments? Huldra (talk) 21:50, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Huldra: The maqam "Esh Sh. Hilu" is shown but not named on that 1932 map, in the cemetery to the NNE of Hadera (1434/2061). It is named on the 1942 version of the map. The dots indicating the village boundary include the maqam and cemetery within the 'Arab el Fuqara lands. In the 1956 map (which is the 1942 map overprinted with new information in Hebrew and all village boundaries erased) buildings are shown approaching within about 100m. I think SWP can be mentioned.
