German speakers[edit]

I removed the sentence about the German speakers:

  • in Bellinzona the spoken language is Italian
  • German is the native language of some inhabitants as several others could be (French, Slovak, Serbian) and habe no relevance —Preceding unsigned comment added by Corti (talkcontribs) 10:25, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Poebene Pass[edit]

The article contains the following:

Several key alpine passes, including the Nufenen, St. Gotthard, Lukmanier, San Bernardino and the Poebene, all meet in the area around Bellinzona, ...

I can find no reference to a pass called Poebene, but it is the German for the Po Valley. The Po Valley does not reach Bellinzona, although the Ticino river is a tributary of it. And it is stretching things a bit to say that the Nufenen, St Gotthard and Lukmanier pass routes join at Bellinzona (that would be Airolo and Biasca respectively. Also, I think the Monteceneri pass, whilst not a high alpine pass, is pretty important to Bellinzona's location. I will try and rewrite. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 12:00, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Landslide[edit]

The area was subject of a significant (300,000 cu.m ; over half a million tonnes) landslide in 2012, and so is likely subject to further landslides. See video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvAJygSWXJA. If this does cause local road closures etc, it may be relevant to the geography section? Infobox: Population Wikidata[edit]

Hello everybody,

I have been trying to update the population, since the last data point presented is from 2018. I created a new Wikidata entry, set it to the preferred rank and removed the same rank from the previous one. Refreshed the page and cleared the page's cache and it won't update on the article.

I tried to pull the data using the Wikidata Query Service and the following code:

SELECT ?populationValue ?populationDate WHERE {

 wd:Q64044 p:P1082 ?populationStatement.
 ?populationStatement ps:P1082 ?populationValue;
                     pq:P585 ?populationDate;
                     wikibase:rank wikibase:PreferredRank.
 SERVICE wikibase:label { bd:serviceParam wikibase:language "[AUTO_LANGUAGE],en". }

} ORDER BY DESC(?populationDate) LIMIT 1

and the data is fetched correctly. I tried to rework the string present in the Infobox two times to no avail. It is quite obvious that I am doing something wrong and would be happy if someone could point me to a resource or help with updating the Infobox. Personally, I like the idea of getting the data directly from Wikidata and didn't want to just insert the raw number in the Infobox.

Thank you in advance and kind regards, IrrationalBeing (talk) 21:55, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
