Major article issues[edit]

I have extensively copy-edited this article to remove multiple errors in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and to re-write in a neutral, encyclopedic tone. The article was very promotional and appears (from the type of personal information in it) to have been originally written by the subject himself or someone closely affiliated with him. It may have been copied from this self-published web page. Or, that page was copied from this article or past versions of it. This article has been speedily deleted multiple times [1] and previously declined at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Rev.Bibiladeniye Mahanama

I have also been formatting the references and checking them for accuracy. I have removed many which were found to be spurious in that they did not verify the claims made, and in fact completely failed to mention the subject at all. Many other unreferenced claims appear to be exaggerations, e.g. the subject's compositions being used in what are described as "short films" but which are actually private wedding videos. I have removed the spurious references and unreliable sources (although not the claims themselves). However, several major biographical claims are sourced to websites which are in Sinhalese only. I have asked members of WikiProject Sri Lanka to check those references and let me know if they actually verify the claims to which they are attached. They are references 1, 2, and 7. Ref 1 Article is about the subject but doesn't mention of being first of anything

Ref 2 confirms primary education at Jayanthi Central College in Nikaweratiya and Became a monk in 1999

Ref 7 doesnt mention him.

Done. I've removed the claims of being "the first monk music composer in Sri Lanka and first theravada Buddhist monk music composer in Asia", and removed the reference which does not mention him at all. I've also removed all maintenance tags except {{BLP sources}}. The article still needs many more citations for the performances, compositions, claims of scholarships, etc. Voceditenore (talk) 05:09, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unconstructive edits reverted[edit]

I have reverted this series of edits by the article's creator (with no edit summaries), which removed all formatting and had restored the page to the version which had major issues of unsubstantiated claims, BLP violations, promotional text, poor English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, bare urls, link spam etc. (See above section for details).
