Giant vipers of Africa[edit]

Sometimes, you run into references to the giant vipers of Africa. It's nothing official, but you sometimes see it on the Internet and I'm sure I've seen it in literature before. I guess the giant vipers would normally be B. arietans, B. gabonica and B. nasicornis, but I have yet to discover who first used this description. If it wasn't meant to be precise, I feel B. parviocula, should be added to this list, as according to Spawls and Branch (1995) it probably grows to over 1 m in length (definitely not one of the smaller species). --Jwinius 18:43, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Name origin[edit]

Given that the Gaboon viper in this genus is known for its huge fangs, is the genus name related to English 'bite'? The article should probably say one way or the other, if a source exists.Vultur~enwiki (talk) 07:39, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
