proposed tear down of ugly pointy building[edit]

why is there no mention that the school wants to tear it down because its foundation is wrong and it got damaged by the recent chino hills quake 75.28.108.106 (talk) 18:15, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Because that's not true. The university wants to fix the building, although it is quietly accepted that it may not be possible. The foundation is only one of the seismic issues, and the building also leaks water. There was no demonstrated structural damage after the Chino Hills quake (although the possibility exists of hidden damage). There was quite a bit of cosmetic damage, but that would have occurred in any building that tall, regardless of its seismic safety.
