Meaning of the main body of the article[edit]

I don't understand the meaning of the main body of the article.

Is it meant o be in chronological order?
What is the meaning of the symbols? (It looks like it was copy/pasted from somewhere.)
What is the criteria for inclusion in the list?
At least one entry is ill-formatted.
