Talk:Cerasuolo (grape)

This redirection is incorrect for several reasons:

  • Cerasuolo is not a grape variety, although VIVC contains one source that cites it as a synonym for Zuccherina Rossa[1], which is equally unheard-of since the mid-1800s[2]
  • Cerasuolo not only refers to Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, a rosato wine made from the Montepulciano grape in the Abruzzo region, but also
  • Cerasuolo can also refer to Cerasuolo di Vittoria, a completely unrelated DOCG wine from Sicily made from Nero d'Avola and Frappato (the only DOCG classified wine in Sicily, upgraded from DOC in 2005).[3]

So in summary,

  • if this redirection should be here at all, it should be Cerasuolo (wine), not Cerasuolo (grape), but furthermore
  • it should probably exist as a disambiguation page, with appropriate article links to each, and
  • possibly at the Cerasuolo level, and include the current village article in the list of diambiguation links (population 150? presumably a notable village!)

I think we can safely delete this redirect now[edit]

The village article is now at Cerasuolo, Molise, the Cerasuolo di Vittoria article for the DOCG wine now exists, Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo now redirects to the right place (although, it should have a separate article now it's a DOC in its own right... one day when I get around to it soon!), I've amended articles in "What links here" so they all point to the right place, and I've created a more comprehensive disambiguation at Cerasuolo.
