Colour of 'Part A' of the Dille-Koppanyi solution[edit]
According to the Dille–Koppanyi reagent page, Part A of a Barbiturates test "is 0.1 g of cobalt(II) acetate dihydrate dissolved in 100 ml of methanol mixed with 0.2 ml of glacial acetic acid". What colour would this be? Am I correct in thinking that this part (Part A) of the test is Orange, and the other part (Part B) of the test is colourless? There are Modified Dille-Koppanyi reagents, but it is NOT clear what the modifcation actually entails (and, hence, whether such tests are basically the same as, or substantially different, from the 'ordinary' Dille-Koppanyi test described in Dille–Koppanyi reagent).
