Which Stephens?[edit]

In the list of letters, the pontificates of Stephen II and Stephen III are mentioned. I'm guessing that they're respectively Pope Stephen II (752-757) and Pope Stephen III (768-772), but as each of those pages has a note about another Stephen (Pope-elect Stephen) perhaps this could be confirmed and then links added to the article? Ibid[edit]

It's worth noting that on something like Wikipedia, ibid (along with idem and loc cit) are tricky beasts to use. If someone re-arranges the text for example, or adds in another sentence with a different source, the ibid would no longer make sense. Hopefully they'd be able to fix that, but it's worth keeping in mind for the future. Ultimately, as long as an article's referencing system with internally consistent that is what matters. I quite like using the sfn template as it keeps the footnotes short and readable while linking the reader to the full details in a bibliography section. It's important to find a method you're comfortable with.

And where a reference is repeated, the wiki software can merge references which is what I've done in this edit. That can stop a references section from getting swamped if the same page is used on several occasions for example. This can be done in the source editor, emulating the code in the text I've linked to (<ref name="label">Ibid., p.255</ref> for your first reference and <ref name="label" /> to repeat it) or in visual editor when you click on the 'cite' button one of the options you have is to reuse a reference.
