Comedy horror as a subgenre of black comedy

The IP editor removed a statement that comedy horror (ugh, I prefer the old title) is a subset of black comedy. The citation that backed this doesn't actually say that, as far as I can tell. Instead, it talked about how American black comedies were sometimes subtitled in Italy when released there. This assertion probably shouldn't be added back until a better citation is found. Thanks for the heads up on my talk page, NinjaRobotPirate. I agree that we can keep this out for now until a better reference is found. The main reason I undid the change was because it was unexplained and removed a reference that could possibly be useful elsewhere. I checked the reference and thought that the phrasing "many of the titles tagged as dark/black comedy in reality present a mixture of different genres (e.g. comedy/drama, comedy/thriller, comedy/horror, comedy/crime)" somewhat supported the claim, and I couldn't imagine an instance when a comedy horror would not be also be considered a black comedy. I'll post the reference here since I think it has some other information that could be added to the article in the future.^[1] Cheers, Ry's the Guy ^{(talk|contribs)} 08:33, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

"Comedy horror" or "horror comedy"?!

Why is there so much dispute and instability over what should be the name of this hybrid genre? Edit warring users involved in this may see themselves as fighting aliens to save the Earth, but I see them as fighting like pre-school kids. Can we come to an agreement yet?! "Horror comedy" seems like the common name. I quote what I said in one of the CfDs: Doing a Google search at Fangoria, there are 1120 hits for "horror comedy" and 62 for "comedy horror". At Variety, there are 912 for "horror comedy" and 107 for "comedy horror". And, at Starburst, there are 158 hits for "horror comedy" and 61 for "comedy horror". It's probably going to take an RM and move protection to stop the move warring, though. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 20:19, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

My search isn't as thorough as NRB's, but both seem to be legitimate terms i.e. Comedy-horror and Horror-comedy. The Allmovie database goes with "Horror Comedy". Could there be an emphasis difference i.e. films that are funny horror films are "Horror comedies", while horror spoofs are "Comedy horrors"? Betty Logan (talk) 18:19, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
