On what basis can the suggestion Cornerstone has "several" training Centres be justified? Their website seems deserted and hasn't been updated in 12 months (as at May 2010) but even that would suggest there are only two training centres with limited numbers. Dean would appear to be correct in suggesting much of the content on this page is advertorial and not factual. The only sources that can be cited (or found on the internet) seem to suggest Cornerstone has a chequered history with failed entrepreneurs (Jim Foo) and suspected terrorists (Charles Gnanakone). (For the sake of transparency - I am a current member of Cornerstone Community and a newbie on Wikipedia) I was not involved in this article originally appearing some years ago in Wikipedia, and (as an individual with personal experience and direct access to facts regarding Cornerstone's operation over more than 20 years) I will gladly review the contents and locate sources / adjust the article if needed to fit the criteria of Wikipedia, as time allows. Nevertheless, it is untrue to suggest (as my friend 'Realist Buster' has) that 'much of the content on this page is ... not factual'. In reality, much of what has in fact taken place does *not* appear on the internet or elsewhere in other easily referenced publications, including for example the details regarding the very fruitful partnership between Cornerstone Community and the Buster family in Bourke, NSW, during the 1980s and 1990s. Regarding the specific concerns raised by 'Realist Buster', the description of 'several training centres' was certainly true at the time this article was posted, and has been in general entirely appropriate for many years. Cornerstone Community had at least 4 and at times 7 training centres operating each year for the 20 years prior to 2009. There are currently two "1st year" training centres and a team studies ("2nd year") training centre operating full-time, and a number of part-time students completing the 3rd year of training through the Burrabadine campus. Staff at that campus have recently confirmed they are expecting another intake of full-time students for the Advanced Diploma course in January 2011, and the Broken Hill community also has facilities to provide the training course if there are sufficient applicants for the first year course. Regarding Cornerstone Community's web site, it was admittedly somewhat 'unattended' for some months. This was not through lack of interest, but because we've been a little busy with other pressing matters! However, an updated version of the site has been launched after several months in development, and information on that site continues to be updated. I would also respectfully suggest that Wikipedia, with its criteria of factuality and objectivity, is an inappropriate forum for innuendo and undeclared conflicts of interest. Lfollent, glad you declared your conflict of interests because otherwise wikipedia users would be in the dark about why you're so defensive. Wikipedia is an attempt to establish an impartial truth. It's almost cultish to become so upset that someone may not fully subscribe to your rosy-glow view of your own organisation. Interestingly, by your own admission Cornerstone has dwindled from up to 7 training centres to the two that are operational this year. Perhaps if the number of Centres has gone from 7 to 2 then any new drafts on this page should reflect that the so-called ministry has been in decline for quite some time. Also, has any Cornerstone Centre that has been moth balled been returned to operational status in the history of Cornerstone?Realist Buster (talk) 10:33, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

I originally started and authored this page some years ago, in the hope others would add and contribute to it as seems to have happened over the years. In putting in information about adverse (and at times unfair) media attention directed Cornerstone's way I was trying to provide a balanced perspective so I don't think it's entirely fair to suggest it is all advertorial, though admittedly some sections were drawn heavily off the Cornerstone website back then. I'm no longer a member of Cornerstone so can say with some impartiality that Cornerstone has both its advocates and critics (as does nearly every organisation I'd imagine). Hopefully future changes and discussion will reflect a commitment to reflecting an accurate and impartial account of an expression of a community that has been around 30 years and impacted thousands of Australians in various ways. Wow - are we reading the same posts RB? I don't recall being upset, feeling defensive or making an 'admission'. I was giving current information to answer your question and to balance the negative impression evident in your prior comment. I aim to follow through on contributing to the article when I can, but I really have *no* interest in some on-line sparring match. Nor do other wikipedia users, I imagine. I just updated some references and added a link to their Facebook page. Having known of Cornerstone since 1982, and knowing someone who is currently a staff member, I am disappointed that their org.au website currently has zero info, no ABOUT US page, their edu.au website is under construction. As a result I cannot find what they stand for and can find little info about them elsewhere on the web.

Further there are few articles about where they are currently working.

• The section in question is the last paragraph- regarding the cornerstone online forums. I think this section overall needs re-writing, but the last paragraph amounts to opinion. Original research

Without citing sources/references, this section appears to be original research. It really needs verifiability. Especially under question is the last two paragraphs, which provide sources for the definitions, but not for the proposition that Cornerstone comes under them. asch246 05:21, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Pioneers of the emerging church movement

Cornerstone is often viewed as one of the pioneers of the emerging church movement given its emphasis is on training the laity in relevant and life-style based mission.

I am sorry, but Cornerstone certainly does not have such a reputation as being pioneers of the emerging church movement. If it did surely there would be some publications out there by some members of Cornerstone. Dean Tregenza 04:47, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I have to agree with Dean. Is there any verifiable research to suggest that Cornerstone has any status as a pioneer of the emerging church movement? It would seem to me this statement is wishful thinking unless hard evidence can be provided. Realist Buster (talk) 12:14, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi guys. Im one of the members of Cornerstone and there are a few books coming out that show evidence that Cornerstone has had a role in the emerging church movement. Ill let you know when the later ones come out.
