@Srnec: Hey, thanks for creating yet another important article! I have a question about this sentence:
"Originally a monk of Beth Abe, he later became the bishop of the Kurdish tribes in the region of Kartaw (Kurdistan) in Upper Mesopotamia."
Is the word "Kurdistan" specifically inferred by the sources? As far as I know, per the academic consensus, the word "Kurdistan" is first attested in 11th-century Seljuk sources.[1] - LouisAragon (talk) 16:54, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the term Beth Kartwaye was used. Whether that can be taken to "infer" Kurdistan I cannot say. Fiey translates it, reasonably enough, as "pays des Kurdes" and later uses "Kurdistan". I originally had the Syriac apesqopā d-Kartwāyē in the article, but removed it and added "Kurdistan". In light of your comment and the possible confusion, I have restored the Syriac and qualified "Kurdistan"—in the footnotes. What do you think? Srnec (talk) 01:29, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
