Kelly Meafua[edit]

Did Kelly Meafua really commit suicide or was it just an accident? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C7:C82:3101:7142:2C24:72ED:9FF2 (talk) 08:59, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It’s confirmed that he died after jumping from a bridge. It’s not clear that he intended to kill himself, or it was a prank gone wrong. WWGB (talk) 09:31, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly looks like a drunken euphoric act in some kind of "I am Superman" mode. Remains to be seen if drowning was the actual cause. Ref (chew)(do) 11:27, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Denys Dubrov[edit]

Is the report of Denys Dubrov's death to be taken seriously? The editor who put it here cited a source and claimed that it was in Ukrainian, but it is, in fact, in Russian. Ukrainian does not use the letter Э (used, however, in Russian) as that article does, and makes extensive use of the letters І, Ї and Є, none of which appears anywhere in it (they are not used in Russian). The editor surely would have known that it wasn't Ukrainian. Furthermore, the only other news stories about Denys Dubrov's death seem to be translations of that Russian article, all posted on news outlets that I've never come across before; there seems to be nothing on any major news outlets. So, has Denys Dubrov indeed died? If so, there should be a better source. Kelisi (talk) 06:24, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Despite your misgivings, the source in use is a perfectly reliable one. It does not become an unreliable outlet merely because it is Russian-based, which I know is a contentious subject in these dark times for Ukraine. Relying on that source alone, I would say just discount the other garbage news aggregators you might come across on the internet. The entry is a valid one as it stands right now, and will of course be removed if it proves that the source is totally mistaken in its reporting. Thanks. Semi-protected edit request on 1 June 2022[edit]

Please add Swedish film director Stellan Olsson who passed away on May 27, 2022. He was 85 years old. [1] [2] 194.69.14.132 (talk) 06:38, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done, though I don't see the second flower shop link as a reliable source. And sadly the first is paywalled, so if any editor can find one that isn't, please replace it in the entry. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 12:27, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I added a link to source that is a blog, but it shows the protected article in its entirety: [3] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.69.14.132 (talk) 14:45, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we certainly avoid using blogs as sources, unless they are attached to a reliable source as part of the whole operation. (Blogs that "copy-and-paste" are not reliable either.) The link you suggest is a standalone blog, so I won't be using that one personally. Ref (chew)(do) 17:27, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
