The other day I came across a youtube video with Ivan Rebroff which had German subtitles and stated that Rebroff was a member of the Don Cossacks Choir Sergey Jaroff. My memory from the beginning years 1966 to 1968 is, that Rebroff had been a member of the Black Sea Cossacks Choir for a brief period, but not the Don Cossacks. Rebroff once explained that the Don Cossacks were so much more famous that people got it mixed up and he stopped correcting it – later simply incorporating the misinformation into his tales. I write this to set the record straight - being a showman is one thing, duping the audience another. There was once a seemingly full list of former choir members on the net, an official looking website, which seems to have been deleted, and for the record, Rebroff was not included. (My husband learnt dombra and balalaika from Andrey Popowkin who was the son of a real Don Cossack, and our Ensembles, Troika and Tschaika went on until 1977.) 121.209.48.111 (talk) 00:22, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Since neither the article Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff nor Ivan Rebroff claim such a membership, I don't quite see the point of the previous remark. --FordPrefect42 (talk) 19:45, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Rebroff started singing in Russian with the Black Sea Cossacks and performed only once as soloist with Jaroff on NDR television ....But he was never a member. The official looking website was made by one of our studygroup about the Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff. He is working on a new website. The most articles on Wikipedia are also from our group 94.215.61.61 (talk) 06:45, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Don Cossack Choir → Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff — Mangoe was wrong here, Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff was indeed the full and official name of the choir, especially as there are more than one Don Cossack Choirs (see e.g. de:Donkosakenchor.—FordPrefect42 (talk) 00:43, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

• I don't really think Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff works nor does it appear to be the official name. Serge Jaroff's Don Cossacks Choir produced a fair number of hits, so i'd support Serge Jaroff's Don Cossacks Choir or the current name. certainly not Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff.--Labattblueboy (talk) 01:49, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Take a look on the official (German)side of Wanja Hlibka. The official name of the choir is: Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff!!! 94.215.61.61 (talk) 15:28, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

The fact of the matter is used to be the Don Cossack Choir, conducted by Serge Jaroff (now its conducted by Wanja Hlibka) but the name is not Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff. I have seen the relationship written as 'Don Cossack Choir: Serge Jaroff', 'Don Cossack Choir; Serge Jaroff' 'Don Cossack Choir/Serge Jaroff, 'Don Cossack Choir, Serge Jaroff' or 'Don Cossack Choir-Serge Jaroff'. In all examples the conductor is separated from the choir by punctuation. I went through every source on google books [1] and didn't come up with a single hit for the exact requested article name. Misspelled Name

Under the section "Unique Voices" the author mentions a singer named 'Pyotr Mihailik'. This spelling is an error. The name is actually Paul Myhalik. Mr. Myhalik was a natural born U.S. citizen, and many official records (U.S. Census, city directories, Social Security, U.S. Marines muster roles) use precisely this spelling. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Myhalik (talk • contribs) 16:59, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
