The leat was working later than the article says[edit]

"The leat was briefly restored during the Second World War".

I lived in Tavistock from 1964 to 1969, and the leat just above Tavistock was certainly operating then, i.e. it usually had a flow of water. It was occasionally emptied for a few days and the fish removed. My understanding was that the water was used by the town's laundry, which was near Parkwood Road.
