  • Comment: A silly hook about one of the more seedy and unexpectedly resilient websites on the old internet. The site has received limited mainstream press coverage beyond its sudden shutdown and abrupt revival in 2019 so a more conservative reviewer will probably find some of the primary sources I've cited in the article to be dubious, but I decided to submit it for DYK regardless.

  • A forum, in this case the website's forum, cannot be used as a reliable source. Deviantart isn't a reliable source either. I doubt that the 4Gamers source is reliable because the article writer's name translates into what is obviously a username. I also don't see how a college thesis can be considered a reliable source. • I believe that per WP:SCHOLARSHIP, a thesis can be a reliable source. In any case, given the necessity of reliance on primary sources for this topic due to a lack of secondary sources, it is clear that this article will not pass a review by User:SL93; unless another editor wants to give this nomination a second opinion, it should be withdrawn from DYK. • I agree that it could be, depending on who wrote it and if it's peer reviewed. I'm fine with another opinion, but I personally don't see anything changing. SL93 (talk) 03:39, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Second review: I don't find a problem with the two thesis papers, which account for a grand total of 3 cites in the article. People often quote theses for obscure topics, and they do not have to be "peer reviewed". As for the rest of the article, there are numerous RS such as Vice and The Daily Dot, and Deviantart even has a wiki page. I think the page creator has made an effort to write this in an encyclopedic way.
  • The first hook is not found in the source but the ALT1 is, so let's go with that. New enough, long enough, neutrally written, adequately referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. ALT1 hook ref verified and cited inline. QPQ done. ALT1 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 19:40, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Yoninah: I personally consider them unreliable sources. Though the 4Gamers source is for sure unreliable and so is the Deviantart source because it is isn't directly from them. Deviantart is a website to share images and the link goes to an image that a user uploaded. SL93 (talk) 19:52, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Morgan695, can you remove these non-RS? If not, I guess we'll take your suggestion of just withdrawing this. Yoninah (talk) 19:58, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Yoninah: I am fine with the thesis papers at this point. I accept your explanation for those. SL93 (talk) 19:59, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • It will once the 4Gamers source is taken care of. SL93 (talk) 20:13, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
