C33 Raytheon AGATE, Beech Bonanza[edit]

I'm no expert on aircraft. My source refers to her flying, at age 89, a "C33 Raytheon AGATE, Beech Bonanza". I interpreted this as C33 Raytheon AGATE, Beech Bonanza, but someone who knows more about the subject is free to correct me. - Jmabel | Talk 05:55, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First female ever on Wheaties box?[edit]

Newsweek says that in 1924 she became the first female ever on the Wheaties box. That may well be true, but I'd like to see a citation from a more obviously well-researched source: she would only have been 13 at the time, and I haven't seen any other source indicating that she was a celebrity quite that young. A one-line mention doesn't seem to me to be enough for me to trust on this. - Jmabel | Talk 07:09, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch, it is a typo on Newsweeks part. A detailed article at Pop History Dig clarifies the details. In 1934, she was the third person (and first woman) on the box. —MJBurrage(TC) 22:20, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A Suggestion[edit]

I believe an article keeping track of surviving pioneers in various fields -- there is already such an article for silent film stars -- is in order. I am astounded that such a person as Elinor Smith, someone who almost certainly met such long-gone people as the Wright Brothers and many others was still among us until a few days ago.

I also feel that there might have been valuable information that died with her.--Jrm2007 (talk) 10:27, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
