In the main article, the "Friends of Bill" group is referred to as an Alcoholics Anonymous group (with a link). Surely this is someone's idea of a joke? Doug1943 14:20, 28 January 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doug1943 (talkcontribs)

"Friends of Bill" is indeed a euphemism for members of Alcoholics Anonymous. It's a code-phrase you can use when you don't want to reveal your association with the AA, as in, "Will any Friends of Bill be at the convention?" But in this context, the reference is almost certainly to the "Friends of Bill Clinton". Doug1943 14:57, 28 January 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doug1943 (talkcontribs)

how unfortunate is the name?[edit]

It's interesting that FoA is directly compared to a self-help organization for alcohol addicts AND to a discreet term for gay men. If this was intentional, it ought to be directly discussed in the article. If it was unintentional, then the general lack of self-aware irony of the group's membership could be explored.
