Frunzik Mkrtchyan → Mher Mkrtchyan – WP:COMMONNAME Երևանցի ^talk 05:14, 27 January 2014 (UTC) Although he is usually credited Frunzik in many (and perhaps most movies), two of the most authoritative sources available online both use Mher Mkrtchyan:

• Library of Congress [1]
• Soviet Armenian Encyclopedia [2]

Plus, as User:Zyzzzzzy has noted on my talk page, the street in Yerevan, a postage stamp issue on his memoiry use "Mher" instead of "Frunzik". Although these don't really prove it's commonality, they are important. --Երևանցի ^talk 05:14, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

• Oppose. The nomination is based on a reliance on authority, whereas Wikipedia's naming policy relies on the most common usage in English-language reliable sources: see WP:COMMONNAME. The Soviet Armenian Encyclopedia is not even an English-language source, so we can discount that one entirely.

A Google Books search shows the two forms to have similar prominence:

1. "Frunzik Mkrtchyan"-wikipedia 31 hits
2. "Mher Mkrtchyan" -wikipedia 34 hits

Peer Review

Great job so far! Good intro paragraph - clear, direct, and short with all the pertinent information. Biography info seems important, but it also seems similar to information put in the Career and Personal Life section, so maybe you could put the Biography info into those other two sections? Otherwise it seems a little redundant or unclear the differences between those sections. Great job including links to his works! Lastly, be careful not to be too biased ("beloved actor") because it can sound a little more opinionated than I think you mean (maybe "he was very popular" or "he was very important to the Armenian community"?) Awesome job so far!!

Great job on the article! I think dividing your article into Early Life and Career as opposed to three separate life related sections would get rid of some of the redundancy. Also, overall quite objective but I noticed " their beloved actor" in the death section. I would omit that; the description of many people attending already conveys the message of popularity. Name

According to the Article in the Russian Wikipedia his official name was Frunze (Фрунзе), chosen by his mother in honour of the Civil War general Mikhail Frunze. Frunzik is a diminutive, as they are often used in Russian colloquial language. Mher is another name he was called, especially at home, but not his official name. --Sundowner (talk) 12:57, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
