Note, the two logos of Gasolin that currently don't appear are missing because they're in the German WP, not in Wikicommons. They cannot be moved to Wikicommons because of copyright issues. I'm going to ask in Teahouse if we can have a low-resolution image under fair use, and if so, how to go about doing this. In the unlikely event that anyone spots this and feels the urge to do the deed, thank you in advance!

Copying instructions from TeaHouse here so I'll remember them later: If you create an en-WP Gasolin AG article, then you can add a logo, after the article is moved to mainspace. You upload it locally at en-WP as well. This is fairly simple, start at Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard, click "Upload a non-free file" follow instructions, choose "This is a copyrighted, non-free work, but I believe it is Fair Use." > "This is a logo of an organization, company, brand, etc." A bot will take care of any high-res problem after awhile, so you don't have to worry about that part. ... This will be a reference for Gasolin AG's most influential illustrator in their advertising: https://web.archive.org/web/20160304081256/http://www.sylvia-lott.de/blog/wp-content/uploads/auto_bild_klassik_08_2011_bergner.pdf Elemimele (talk) 17:32, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am omitting a section on a helicopter-operated petrol delivery service for broken-down vehicles, mentioned in the German equivalent article. While adding the reference, I noticed it was 1st April. Since the Germans have the same habit as the Brits of playing tricks on 1st April, I think there's at least a possibility this was a newspaper having a bit of fun. Although I'd love to include it, I'm not sure it'd be appropriate. Elemimele (talk) 11:16, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

status at submission for review[edit]

I'm submitting this for review at this point as I believe it now contains nearly all the material that is worth carrying over from the original German article, and has reached a usefully complete state, where I'd really welcome input from anyone who can make it better. It still needs logos sorting out (which will be copyright; we might have to trim to a single logo, and I've never done logos before). I also intend to add a few sentences about Bruno Bergner based on the reference that's currently provided, and will also transfer across some mention of the historical Gasolin stations mentioned in the Verschiedenes section of the German article, as they also fit in the idea of Gasolin nostalgia. But this is the sort of icing-on-the-cake that can be added if the cake is generally approved. Elemimele (talk) 11:54, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
