Some similar geography articles[edit]

Might be worth having a look to see if we can improve the layout based on either of these (even though they aren't that good). The text is pretty thick at the moment. - FrancisTyers 20:26, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Chernobyl Disaster.jpg[edit]

The image Image:Chernobyl Disaster.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

No map?[edit]

Hello. I think it is quite preposterous that there isn't a single map, physical or political, of the USSR - in the geography article no less! There might be some reason in the guideline which I'm not yet aware of, but I'm quite certain there isn't. I'm still quite new and I'm not sure how to add a map, so can someone, for the sake of the readers, add one - or atleast explain why there isn't one? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Goodguy1066 (talkcontribs) 15:54, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Geographic center[edit]

The last sentence of the lead says that

The USSR had a geographic centre further north than any other country except Canada, Iceland, the countries of Scandinavia[citation needed], as about three quarters of the country was above the 50th parallel north.[1][2]

What about Finland (which is Nordic but not Scandinavian)?

For that matter, "country" needs to be replaced with "independent country", lest Greenland be another counterexample. Loraof (talk) 04:04, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
