Untitled[edit]

The article is incorrect - the university did not end football based on the record of the team in the 1960's or because of attendance. GW's leaders felt that since the University did not have an on-campus stadium and the sport was so expensive to run, it would make sense for GW to focus on basketball and other sports that would benefit from an multiuse fieldhouse/athletic facility on campus. Money saved from the discontinued football program helped to finance the construction of the Charles E.
