Article size[edit]

The article has now reached a size (77,553 bytes) where a split may be in order. According to Wikipedia:Article size articles at a size of 60kB should probably be divided. In this case it would be particularly easy to keep only the federal league system here and move the rest into 21 regional association articles , like Bavarian football league system, with links and a short intro still here. This could be done gradually, bit by bit with no haste. What are the thoughts of the contributing editors? Calistemon (talk) 22:13, 17 July 2012 (UTC

As you correctly quoted, an article exceeding 60kB should probably be divided. Additionally, browsing through WP:Article size the reason for that is basically the following: A page of about 30kB to 50kB of readable prose, which roughly corresponds to 6,000 to 10,000 words, takes between 30 and 40 minutes to read at average speed, which is right on the limit of the average concentration span of 40 to 50 minutes. This is not the case here. For more than two thirds, the article just contains league pyramide lists. So imho it doesn't take more than 10 to 15 minutes to read the article. Therefore currently, I don't see any need to split, just because of the technicality of article size in kB. Additionally, moving the 21 state pyramide plus the few lines of text for each state association into 21 state association articles would instantly produce 17 stubs as currently such articles exists for only four state associations. So again, as of now, I don't see any benefit for the readers to split. --NeunZehnHundertFünf (talk) 21:03, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
