Is Louis Ducros the same man as Pietro Ducros?[edit]

Dear Wiki-users,

Please consider that, according to the Wiki page of Volpato, he collaborated only a few years apart, in Rome, with two people named Ducros, both from the same Swiss origins, with very similar life spans, occupations & general backgrounds :

On one side there is Pietro Ducros - Wikipedia

On the other Louis Ducros aka Abraham-Louis-Rodolphe Ducros - Wikipedia

How likely is it that these people are 2 different people?

That is my question.

The text says "He engraved a series of landscapes and vedute of Rome with Pietro Ducros." without offering the source(s) to attest this, nor the period involved.

There is hardly any (to none) information on the work of Pietro Ducros through the actual prints still found in collections around the world, but a lot on Louis Ducros' work.

Indeed, the Nationalmuseum - Louis Ducros, The MET and the British Museum (see Spencer Alley: Views in Rome by Giovanni Volpato and Louis Ducros) a.o. all have work attributed to and sometimes signed with Louis DuCros with regard to Roman views (veduti), done in collaboration with Volpato.

Two important Swiss sources for artists originating from that region do not know of a Pietro or Pierre Ducros, but do have plenty to say on Louis or his full name Abraham-Louis-Rodolphe Du Cros.

Having done quite a bit of research and finding (sometimes only succinct) references of both names in early and late 19th C. dictionaries, I am more and more convinced they are, in fact, one and the same person.

I suspect that some may have simply copy-pasted earlier information, without checking sources. I suspect some circular referencing too...

That's what I'd like to prove, with your help!

I've developed a detailed argumentation/comparison to that effect based on the analysis of several sources from the late 1700's on, in different languages (translated in ENG for your convenience).
