VT location shooting cheaper?[edit]

The article claims the series was "shot on videotape rather than the more expensive (yet typical) practice of shooting TV drama location exteriors on 16mm film". It's always been my understanding that in those days shooting on videotape was more expensive due to the large amount of supporting equipment needed and the larger crew demanded by unions for VT shooting, as opposed to the ease and convenience of shooting with portable 16mm cameras. Certainly many series continued to be made either in whole or in part on 16mm, right up until the advent of HD and 4k cameras and more relaxed union regs.
